SWIMMING AND DIVING
Dual Meets:
Sec. 1 The number of meets and starting date will be determined by the NCS
Sec. 2 Athlete Eligibility
Follow CIF, League, and NCS Bylaws governing athletics concerning player eligibility.
Sec. 3 Awards and Varsity Championships
The league varsity champion will be determined by league championship meet. Note there are no awards for the JV championships.
Sec. 4 Division of Swimmers
Sec. 5 Scoring in dual meet and the championship meet
Scoring will be according to the current National Federation Swimming Rule Book. (NFHS Lanes of scoring)

Sec. 10 League Meet Entries are due at the League Coaches meeting one week prior to the League Meet, occurring during the diving break of the JV league championships, not to start before 10:30am. Each team will receive entry verifications consisting solely of their Varsity entries within 24 hours of the League meeting. Upon receiving said entries, each team will have 24 hours to make any needed changes or corrections to their entries. If no changes or corrections are noted within the 24-hour period, entries will be locked-in based on what was turned in at the League Coaches Meeting. CHANGES WILL ONLY BE ALLOWED AT THE DISCRETION OF THE MEET’S HEAD REFEREE and MEET DIRECTOR AFTER THIS TIME.
Sec. 11 A & B relays advance on time only and only one relay team per school is allowed to advance. (4/21/09) Relay entries will consist of a maximum of eight swimmers listed for that relay. On each day, the lead-off swimmer must be designated along with the correct order of the relay. The swimmers and relay order may change between trials and finals, provided they are from the original relay entry. An alternate on a “B” relay may also be listed as an ”A” relay alternate swimmer. If a swimmer competes in a “B” Relay in Friday’s Trials, they are not eligible to swim in the “A” Relay on Saturday’s Finals. A swimmer is charged with one of their four events (each participant is limited to four events maximum with no more than two individual events) ONLY if they compete in a relay: Trials or Finals. Relay Alternates who do not compete in a relay are not charged an event.
Sec. 12 1/21/10 unlimited entries in 50 and 100 free. (JV & Var)
Sec. 13 Game ending procedures: Any contest that is suspended for any reason will continue from the point of interruption, unless mutually agreed upon by the schools involved to end the contest. (Contest out of reach and both schools agree to end the contest).
Sec. 14- For varsity finals, any student taking any test will be allowed to come back time trial a missed event. Swimmer will have to have been in top 20 in the event in trials. Time will count towards NCS Qualifying and EBAL record. Time will not count towards team point totals.
All league patches will be awarded to the first place finishers only. Championship certificates will be awarded to 1-3 place participants.
Dual Meets:

- Day of meets is Friday
- Rescheduling can happen by mutual agreement.

- Teams should use a fully automatic timing system (FAT) if possible
- The ballot system of scoring will be used, when necessary
JV League Championships
Sec. 7 League JV Finals:
- Times entered or swimmers must be based upon times swam during the season’s league competition
- Junior Varsity Championships will be run as a timed final event and held at Dougherty Valley the same day as Varsity swim finals. JV events will be run in the same order as the dual meet schedule
- The JV Diving championships will be the Wednesday before the JV swimming championships. It will be a 6 dive format with unlimited entries and with no cuts
- The meet will be scored to 20 places and only 4 swimmers or divers and one relay may score from each school in an event.
- Athletes are allowed to swim in two relays & two individual events OR three relays and one individual event.
- Each school will be allowed eight entries per event, with the exception that each School is allowed unlimited entries in the 50 and 100 free.
- Relay entries will consist of a maximum of eight swimmers listed for that relay. The lead-off swimmer must be designated along with the correct order of the relay. An alternate on a “B” relay may also be listed as an “A” relay alternate swimmer. Relay Alternates who do not compete in a relay are not charged with an event.
Varsity League Championships
Sec. 8 Varsity League Finals:
- In order to participate in the league meet the athlete must compete in two dual meet contests in your division, or was moved up and down on the participation ladder. An appeal process is available for any athlete not meeting the minimum number of contests due to injury or illness with appropriate documentation. Appeals must be made 72 hours prior to the event by sending documentation to the schools AD, coach and league commissioner. A final decision will be rendered 24 hours prior to contest.
- Times entered or swimmers must be based upon times swam during the season’s league competition.
- Meter Times will be converted to Yard Times.
- The championship meet will follow the dual meet order of events.
- Each school is allowed 8 entries per event and unlimited entries in the 50 & 100 free and diving. Note only 4 swimmers from a school may advance from trials to finals.
