WRESTLING
Sec. 1    All matches shall be conducted according to the National Federation of State High School Athletic Associations plus the following
               items:
  1. Headgear is mandatory for all contestants. 
  2. All contestants shall wear high top shoes.
  3. All contestants shall wear complete uniforms.
  4. All equipment and uniforms must meet National Federation Rules.
Sec. 2    Varsity League tournament to be held on Saturday. (Varsity and JV teams).  Varsity level to be a 8 person bracket.
Sec. 3    League Dual Meets
  1. Weigh-ins from 5:00pm to 6:00pm.
  2.  Visiting coach to conduct weigh-ins.
  3. Starting Time:
  4. Home team to determine one or two mats and notify visiting team if two mats will be used (2 days notice required).
  5. Single mat matches - JV's 6:00pm - Var. to follow. 
  6. Two mat matches - both JV & Var start at 6:30pm.
Sec. 4   Weight Classes will be as determined by NCS & CIF.
Sec. 5        Classification weigh-ins shall be conducted according to NCS Bylaws.
Sec. 6    The number of contacts shall be determined by the NCS not including EBAL, NCS, and CIF tournaments.
Sec. 7 EBAL Meet Seeding 4/14/11
        a.    The seeding meeting for the EBAL tournament will be held the night of the JV EBAL tournament.  If the JV and varsity tournament are
               held on the same day, 
the varsity seeding meeting will be held the night before the varsity tournament.
Seeding Criteria
  1. Head to Head

  1. In seeding the league tournament, each coach will present the following:
  2. Team’s roster for league tournament. Once presented, this line-up cannot change
  3. A list of his seed able wrestlers. All wrestlers on this list must be seeded. If a wrestler’s name is not on this list, then they will not be seeded.
  4. The “re-match weigh-in form” dated for the EBAL wrestling tournament.
  5. A coach may declare his wrestler a “non-participant”. Once a wrestler is declared as a “non-participant”, the athlete will not be eligible to be seeded, will be drawn into the bracket, but will forfeit both matches. This wrestler will be eligible for an NCS at-large berth and the EBAL hardship procedure.
  6. The NCS at large berths will be determined by the “body of work, of the wrestler in question.
  7. The procedure for the seeding meeting will be as follows:
  8. Coaches turn in rosters, seeding lists and pre-match weigh-in forms
  9. Coaches will declare any wrestlers as “non-participants”
  10. Coaches will declare if they have any wrestlers applying for a hardship and coaches will vote if they meet the criteria
  11. Seeding of respective weights will begin
Sec. 8       Coaches can agree to have highlighted match last.
Sec.9        First place in each event will receive an all league patch. First – third place will receive a certificate. 2/9/06
Sec. 10     The EBAL automatic team to the NCS Dual Team Championship will be based on the EBAL Bylaws. Head to Head etc. 6/1/01
Sec. 11     The EBAL Champion will be determined by Dual Meet Records.  The tie breaker is the highest place at the EBAL Tournament

Sec. 12     There will be two certified scales at the EBAL tournament 1/15/09    
Sec 13     Game ending procedures; Any contest that is suspended for any reason will continue from the point of interruption, unless   
                 mutually agreed upon by the schools involved
to end the contest (example- game out of reach and both schools agree to end the
                 contest).
Sec. 14   Hardships:  In order for a wrestler to apply for a “hardship” match for qualifying for the section tournament, the following conditions
                must be met:

  1. The “hardship” wrestler must be under medical care.  A note must be provided from a registered medical practitioner by the start of the varsity tournament.
  2. The ‘hardship” must be declared at the EBAL varsity wrestling seeding meeting.
  3. The “hardship” wrestler must be approved for the ‘hardship match” by a majority vote of the EBAL wrestling coaches. (The guideline to be used would be, “would this wrestler place 5th in the EBAL?”
The hardship match must meet the following conditions:
  1. Take place by the Wednesday after the league tournament.
  2. Be officiated by a certified official.
  3. The location of this match will be at the challenged wrestler’s home school, unless agreed upon by both coaches.
  4. A weigh-in must take place in accordance to the National Federation rule book.
  5. The hardship wrestler must win two matches.  The challenged wrestler only needs to win one match to hold the position.
​Sec. 15  Representatives at the NCS Seeding Meeting- Representation t the NCS seeding meeting will be filled by the Head coaches whose
               teams placed first and second in
the EBAL wrestling dual meet portion of the season. 4/14/11
Sec.16   DLS will not compete against EBAL schools in dual matches, unless schools schedule them.  DLS will be the
               EBAL automatic representative to
the NCS Dual Team Tournament.  DLS will wrestle in the EBAL Tournament and earn 8 pts. towards
               the ALL SPORTS AWARD.

Sec. 17  ADD The EBAL Championship will be hosted by the Mountain division in even years and the valley division in odd years based on the                 following rotation:

       NCS Seeding Meeting Reps
       De La Salle and the winner of the EBAL Duals will be the 2 league reps for NCS seeding meeting

Sec. 18    Playoff: (Dual) site to be rotated- odd years at Mt. #1; even years at Val. #1
Sec. 19    Format for playoff: (Dual)  Mt. #1 vs Val. #1 and Mt. #2 vs Val. #2: Order for NCS Team: 1-DLS; 2-winner #1’s; 3-loser #1’s; 4-winner #2’s; 5  loser #2’s.
